The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority has suspended Kenya Airways flights between Nairobi and Dar es Salaam from January 22, 2024. This move was made in response to Kenya’s refusal to grant Air Tanzania all-cargo flight operations between Nairobi and third countries, which violates section 4 of the Memorandum of Understanding on Air Services signed on November 24, 2026, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The route between Nairobi and Dar es Salaam , is an essential connection between the two East African countries. It is currently served by three main airlines, namely Kenya Airways, Precision (partly owned by Kenya Airways), and Air Tanzania. The route sees a total of 37 weekly flights, with Kenya Airways operating the majority of them, specifically 23 flights per week.
